DAY1: ARRIVAL MANDALAY (transfer + sightseeing)

 

On arrival at Mandalay International Airport, you are welcomed by our tour guide and transferred to your hotel. We will spend the rest of the day sightseeing in Mandalay, the last royal capital and environs. Although quite a young city and a hub of commerce it is the main centre for monastic learning for over a century now.

On this day’s trip:

 

(1) Mandalay, the last royal capital of Myanmar is the best place to see all the traditional arts and crafts are made, including weaving and tapestry, carving and metal work, and puppets. And also you will visit gold- leaf making work-places and see how the gold leaf is being made by hand in a traditional way.

(2) Afterwards, we visit Mandalay Palace and the nearby, Shwe Nandaw Monastery (Golden Palace Monastery) - noted for its exquisite wood carvings.

(3) Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world's largest book for its 729 marble slabs inscribed with the Buddha's Doctrine.

(4) We finish the day’s tour by visiting Mandalay Hill to experience a tropical sun-set with panoramic views of the city and the Ayeyarwaddy River.

Lunch & welcome dinner at local restaurant and overnight at the hotel in Mandalay.

DAY: 2 MINGUN – SAGAING - AMARAPURA (full day sightseeing)

 

(1) You have to wake up early in this morning to see a face washing ceremony of Mahamuni Buddha image at nearly 4.15 AM up to 6.00AM. It is a spectacularly gold-encrusted Buddha image said to be cast in the life-time of Buddha himself and the most sacred Buddhist site in upper Myanmar.

And then going back to hotel and have a breakfast. After refreshment, we cross the Ayeyarwaddy River by boat to Mingun. And then Sagaing and Amarapura.

(2) We go to Mandalay pier, enjoy a picturesque scenery and the daily lifestyles of the local people. See types of wooden boats and bamboo rafts, floating up and down the river and embarking on a private boat upstream to visit Mingun. It islocated about 11 km upriver (1 hour) from Mandalay, famed for its huge and incomplete Pahtodawgyi Pagoda;built as a colossal brick monument with the intention of being the world’s biggest stupa by King Bodaw Paya and MingunBell; world’s largest ringing bell weighing 55555 viss which calculated equal to a 90 ton.

(3) Mya Theindan Pagoda is also known as Hsinbyume Pagoda. It was built by King Bagyidaw in 1816, three years before he succeeded to the throne, in memory of his favourite wife the Hsinbyume Princess.

(4) We then drive to the Sagaing which is located on the west side of the Ayeyarwaddy River. Sagaing Hill is home of 600 white-painted pagodas and monasteries, and is widely regarded as the religious center of Myanmar. From the Sagaing Hill, enjoy magnificent views overlooking the river and hill side covered with countless pagodas. We visit Swan Oo Pon Nya Shin Pagoda and U Min Thone Sae Pagoda.

(5) In the evening we drive to the ancient capital of Amarapura, a former capital whose name means ‘City of Immortality’. The city is well famous for its weaving and textile industries. While here visit a silk weaving workshop which produces exquisite handmade products and its workshop where to learn how Myanmar longyis and traditional fabrics are created.

(6) Before returning to the hotel after a full day of sightseeing , there is one more magical experience to view in Myanmar and with its beautiful sunset is the 200-year-old U Bein teak bridge built in a simple but yet strong teak structure that spans 1,2km over Taungtaman Lake in 1782. Enjoy the sun-set there and back to Mandalay. Lunch & dinner at local restaurant and over night at the hotel in Mandalay.

DAY 3: MANDALAY DEPARTURE

This morning you will have some time to explore ZAY CHO market (if time allow) before being transferred directly to Mandalay International Airport for your departure flight.
